ELIMINATE BOREDOM WITH THESE 6 TIPS


So there you sit, staring at a screen, or several. You’re frustrated, tired, on edge–and completely uninspired. “Boredom is an aversive state characterized by dissatisfaction, restlessness, and weariness,” Andreas Elpidorou, a University of Louisville researcher, noted in the journal Frontiers in Psychology. “Being in a state of boredom feels like being emotionally trapped.”
So how do you escape? When you have a task or project that doesn’t remotely excite or engage you, it can take an extra effort to get motivated just to keep plodding forward, let alone think really creatively about it. These six tips can help.

1.    Listen to Music.
If you’re a music lover, it can lift up your spirits like nothing else can. This might seem obvious, but the natural chemical reasoning is pretty incredible to think about. If you are ever in need of an emotional boost, let it be known that it only takes 15 minutes of listening to your favorite tunes to get a natural high. This is because your brain releases dopamine, a neurotransmitter that leads to increased feelings of happiness, excitement, and joy, when you listen to music you like.

2.    Create a new Recipe.
Whether you’re into cooking or not, try creating your own recipe. Experiment with different ingredients and be creative. Use your taste and instinct to create a new delicious dish. You might just make your cooking skills better than they ever were by learning new techniques.


3.    Learn something new.

Perhaps what you need is some mental stimulation. Here are some fast things you can do to start learning something new:
  • Read a book
  • Research a topic you’re interested in online. You’ll be surprised where the trail of learning leads you, and also you’ll realize by the end how many different things you’ve learnt.
  • Write a short story or poem. Share your feelings, whatever they might be.
  • Pull up photoshop (or download GIMP if you don’t have it) and practice your artistic skills.
  • Play a sport. Do some exercise, or just go for a run. Taking a good swim recharges your body and soul. A good training session takes your mind off all the useless emotions.


4.  Socialize.

Get out and meet some friends, or make some new friends. Boredom can often disguise a lack of social energy. Even if you can’t see how to meet new people in your area and your friends are busy, go to an online forum that shares one of your interests or pick up a phone. Don’t just wait for a reply to someone’s whatsapp message. There are faster, interactive methods which better define the concept of socializing while being countries apart.




5.            Paint a picture.

Go crazy and paint your art out! Who knows someone may want to buy it and you can earn a few bucks too! Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium[1] to a solid surface (support base). The medium is commonly applied to the base with a brush, but other implements, such as knives, sponges, and airbrushes, can be used.
Painting is a mode of creative expression, and the forms are numerous. Drawing, gesture (as in gestural painting), composition, narration (as in narrative art), or abstraction (as in abstract art), among other aesthetic modes, may serve to manifest the expressive and conceptual intention of the practitioner.[2] Paintings can be naturalistic and representational (as in a still life or landscape painting), photographic, abstract, narrative, symbolistic (as in Symbolist art), emotive (as in Expressionism), or political in nature (as in Artivism).



6.      Meditate.

This has become my default activity in cases of extreme boredom. Often thought of as a hippy-dippy practice aimed at transcendence, meditation is coming into its own as a stress-reduction technique for even the most type-A kind of people.
