The Xavier’s Commerce Society Presents:
The Xavier’s Commerce Society is the representative society of the Department of Commerce of St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, India. The society strives for the progress and intellectual mastery of every undergraduate commerce student within the college. The society by organizing holistic events throughout the academic year ensures that every student is taught critical lessons before stepping into the Corporate World.
From academic seminars featuring prominent conglomerates and start-ups such as EY, BSE, Swiggy, Zomato, Ola, among others to intense management simulations, the Xavier's Commerce Society covers immense ground across the corporate realm. The Xavier’s Commerce Society has previously associated with celebrities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Shashi Tharoor, Arnab Goswami, Narayan Murthy, Suresh Raina, and Brett Lee for its annual business journal, Youthink, which is currently in its twelfth edition. Youthink Volume XI was acknowledged by the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi as well.
Every February, the Xavier's Commerce Society organises its flagship event, “Insignia”, an International level Inter-College Management Festival which happens to be the biggest of its kind at the undergraduate level in East India. Insignia attracts participation from premier commerce, management, and economics colleges of the country as well as from abroad, and audiences in large numbers. With a diverse range of events spanning across the management realm, Insignia enables students to display their business acumen, hone their problem-solving skills, and shape themselves into becoming tomorrow’s corporate leaders.
Insignia has also been host to eminent personalities in the past such as Biswa Kalyan Rath, Kenny Sebastian, TVF Pitchers, Rahul Bose, Suhel Seth, Justice Markandey Katju and Papa CJ to name a few, who have inspired the youth of this generation to great extents. The theme for Insignia 2018 is based on the sprawling metropolis of Las Vegas and the intricacies of management that have made it a landmark destination of the world in the form of the myriad hotels and casinos that dominate its streets, making it the entertainment capital of the world. Taking inspiration from this unique city, Insignia 2018 aims to draw a parallel across contrasting dimensions of management, both in theory and practice, and replicating it in the form of challenging simulations that ultimately culminate in the happening of a grand management festival like none other.
