If travelling is your passion and trekking is what you are planning for then Kodachari in the Western Ghats is the ideal destination. The place situated in the Shimoga district in the outskirts of Karnataka and 10 hours from Bangalore is a perfect landscape with waterfalls, dense forest and scenic beauty. 

Added to these are the lovely sun sets and sun rise and the vast Arabian Sea. One cannot definitely miss the amazing changing colours of the sky where clouds float below the peak.

The best time to visit the place is from the months of September to February and it is a short tour which hardly takes 2-3 days starting from Bangalore. There are a number of ways to reach the hilly area of Kodachari.The Kodachari trek via Karakatte is not very difficult and takes hardly 4-5 hours to reach the peak with the Kollur ranges all around. When descending , one can easily reach the base by 3 hours or one can even book a jeep and reach Nittur directly. 

During the near about 14 kilometers trek, you would come across several waterfalls like the Arasinagundi Falls,  Hidlumane Falls which is actually a group of seven streams. The rain forest has several wild animals except the lions and elephants. One may also like to visit the Sri Mookambika Devi Temple which is 2 km away from the peak. Thus, the trek to Kodachari is a must in the bucket list of every travel lover who will never be disappointed to visit the 4,406 feet peak through the lovely rain forests.
